No updates in a while because we’ve been in full tropical relaxation mode and soaking up the lifestyle in Darwin with our awesome and wonderful hosts Rodney and Chris in Humpty Doo at their beautiful home. They’ve given us the full market tour (Mindil Beach sunset and markets for smoothies a plenty, Palmerston Markets for tropical fruits and veg, Parap Markets for the famous laksa and pawpaw salads which blew our minds) and frequented the Humpty Doo pub for cold beers and great pub meals, driven around the Metcalfe properties, gone up and down the coastline around Fanny Bay and East Point and managed to avoid saltwater crocodiles (so far), chilled out at the Ski Club, Sailing Club and Trailer Club for ciders and chips and more glorious sunsets, countless swims in Chris and Rodney’s stunning pool, many many iced coffees from Four Birds cafe, parking and re parking at the mall to avoid paying during the day… All sorts of fun! Rob joined us as our fantastic third wheel and we took him around to the WW2 Oil Tunnels and down to the waterfront to laugh at the territorians lapping up the artificial wave lagoon in the pool. We are also in the midst of planning our attack on the 4-6 day long Jatbula Trail back down at Nitmiluk National Park near Katherine.. gathering food and supplies and packing our packs as lightly as we can without having to buy dehydrated meals, which none of us were tempted by. The tropics are definitely suiting us well and we are slowly adapting to the heat of the day and night, but it definitely helps having an awesome base in Humpty Doo with excellent company and local knowledge. And a pool. And cold beers. And dinners. We’re feeling pretty spoilt!
